On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., police were dispatched to a weapons offence at a retail business on the 3800 block of Sherwood Drive. Information stated that a male had stolen merchandise and when a loss prevention officer pursued, the male punched the officer and threatened with a knife.
Police arrived and observed the suspect with the merchandise, and warned him to stop. The male then fled on foot. Police were able to stop the male and place him under arrest. The knife was located and seized.
Forty-one year-old John TRAIL, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Shoplift Under $5,000 [CC 334(B)]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 [CC 355(B)].
The accused made his first appearance in Provincial Court on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
