The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred this morning.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023 at approximately 7:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue East for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. When police arrived, officers attended to the victim – a 47 year old male – who was located on the roadway. EMS arrived a short time later and confirmed that the male was deceased. The name of the deceased will not be released at this time. Notification is being made to his next-of-kin.
Patrol officers diverted traffic away from the scene; all eastbound traffic on the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue East was shut down to motorists. Other Patrol officers attended to the driver of the vehicle. Collision investigators from the Traffic Safety Unit attended to the scene to continue the investigation. Shortly after 11:00 a.m., all traffic restrictions were lifted on Victoria Avenue East.
At this early stage in the investigation, no other details are available. It is not known at this time what charges, if any, may result.
