A Regina male is facing a string of charges after an armed robbery early this morning.
On Thursday, February 23, 2023 at approximately 4: 25 a.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of Grey Street for a report of an armed robbery. Early information suggested a male was sitting inside his parked vehicle on Grey Street, when two suspect males exited a nearby vehicle, entered the victim’s vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim. One of the males then drove off in the victim’s vehicle and the other male drove off in the suspect vehicle.
Officers arrived and attended to the victim, who was not physically injured in the incident. Meanwhile, other Patrol officers and members of the Canine Unit located the victim’s stolen vehicle abandoned on Grey Street. A loaded firearm was located inside. Additional officers located the suspect vehicle driving in the area and attempted a traffic stop; the driver of the vehicle evaded police at a high-rate of speed. A short time later, members of the Canine Unit located the suspect vehicle abandoned in an alley on the 2200 block of Broder Street. A Canine team then located the suspect hiding in a yard on the 2200 block of Edgar Street. A Police Service Dog bit the male suspect and he was taken into police custody. The male was transported to hospital by EMS and was treated for his injuries.
During the course of the investigation, police recovered a second firearm, a quantity of drugs, items associated with drug trafficking and body armor. As a result:
