A Regina male has been arrested and charged for violating a court ordered condition not to be in proximity of youth under 16 years of age.
On Thursday, February 16, 2023, at approximately 7:35 a.m., an unknown male was reportedly seen at a high school in the 1000 block of College Avenue speaking with students. Approximately an hour later, at about 8:20 a.m., an unknown male entered a high school on the 1200 block of College Avenue and was also reported to be speaking with students at that school. The male was ushered off school grounds by school staff. The incidents were reported to RPS School Resource Officers who began an investigation.
At approximately 11:15 a.m, police received a report of a male causing disturbances at two businesses on the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue. Information suggested the male had attempted to shoplift items from one of the businesses. When Patrol members arrived, the male had left. Through investigation, officers identified the male as 34 year-old Cyril Osagyey EGUAKUN. Police attended to a residence on February 17, 2023 and arrested EGUAKUN.
Patrol members and School Resource Officers were able to confirm that EGUAKUN was the same male who was present at the high schools. EGUAKUN is currently under a court ordered condition not to attend areas where persons under the age of 16 years are present or expected to be present.
As a result, 34 year-old Cyril Osagyey EGUAKUN has been charged with:
- 2 X Fail To Comply With Prohibition Order Regarding Children [CC 161(4)];
- 4 X Fail To Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1(1)].
EGUAKUN was remanded into police custody over the weekend and made his first court appearance this morning (February 21, 2022) at 9:30 a.m.
