Recent developments in a violent robbery incident from 2014 have led to the arrest of a 25 year-old male.
On Monday, June 2nd, 2014, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of 14th Avenue and Rae for the report of a male who had been assaulted. Police arrived and observed an injured male who was then transported to hospital by EMS. Police learned that two suspects had approached two young males in the area of Victoria Avenue and Broad Street, demanded money, and threatened to shoot the males. The victims managed to separate themselves from the suspects, losing sight of them until they reached the area of 14th Avenue and Rae Street, where the suspects, carrying blunt weapons, assaulted them.
A passerby witnessed the assault and called police, at which points the suspects fled. One male sustained minor injury. The other victim suffered serious injury.
Recent developments in the investigation of the assault of the male sent to hospital has led to a 25 year-old male. On February 2nd, the male was arrested for robbery.
A 25 year-old male, who was 16 at the time of the offense, and therefore cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)].
The male made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court, on Friday, February 3, 2023.
