A 14-year-old male youth and a 13-year-old male youth are each facing Break and Enter and Mischief charges after an incident on February 4, 2023.
Police were dispatched to a report of a Break and Enter to a business in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue on February 4, 2023, at approximately 8:45pm. Suspects were observed on security cameras breaking into the business and stealing a fire extinguisher. The suspects then ran across the street and committed a Mischief by discharging the fire extinguisher in another business, also in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue. Police arrive at the scene quickly and apprehended two youths matching the suspect descriptions without incident. One of the youths was found to be in possession of a knife.
As a result, both the 14-year-old male and 13-year-old male are facing charges. They cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The 14-year-old male youth is charged with:
- Break and Enter and Commit [348(1)(b) CC]
- Mischief Under $5000 [430(4)]
- Carry a Concealed Weapon [90 CC]
The youth is scheduled to make his first appearance in Provincial Youth Court on
March 8, 2023, at 9:30 a.m
The 13-year-old male youth is charged with:
- Break and Enter and Commit [348(1)(b) CC]
- Mischief Under $5000 [430(4)]
