The accidental discharge of a firearm inside a private residence has resulted in a charge against a 26 year-old Regina male. Through investigation, police confirmed that the firearm was one of four legally-owned firearms.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at approximately 5:52 p.m., the Regina Police Service received a call from a Regina resident stating he had accidentally discharged a firearm, belonging to him, in his apartment residence. Police attended and were let into the suite by the resident. The projectile did not travel out of the apartment and there were no injuries associated to this incident. Police seized the firearms and charged the male in connection with the careless discharge of the weapon.
Twenty-six year-old Elmer WILSON, of Regina, was charged with Discharge a restricted or prohibited firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner, section 244.2(1)(a) CC. WILSON made his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 (today).
