On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 900 block of Lindsay Street for the report of a break and enter in progress. A female called stating that an unknown female was attempting to enter, then the dispatcher heard shouting and screaming for help.
A Regina Police Service Canine Unit member was first to arrive, noting occupants fleeing on foot. Hearing screaming from the residence, the officer entered and observed a masked male suspect, and announced his presence to the suspect, and demanded the suspect show his hands. The suspect fled with multiple other persons. The officer heard the suspects flee and deployed a Police Service Dog (PSD), who bit a 31 year-old male who was arrested.
Police located a 16 year-old female who was arrested a short distance from the residence. She was identified and found to be wanted for breach of probation.
Another, a 31 year-old male who fled the scene was also located and arrested. The male was also found to be in breach of probation and had an outstanding warrant for being unlawfully at large.
A 35 year-old male was the last arrested in the incident, arrested for assaulting the victim with a crowbar.
Police retrieved a firearm and a crowbar left at the residence.
Thirty-five year-old Zackary Michael PRETTYSHIELD, thirty-one year-old Chase Elliot WINDIGO, twenty-one year-old Chase QUEWEZANCE, and a 16 year-old female youth, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, all of Regina, are jointly charged with: Break and Enter & Commit [CC 348(1)(B)].
PRETTYSHIELD is also charged with Assault With a Weapon [CC 267(A)].
QUEWEZANCE is also charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137];
- Careless Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)];
- Use of Firearm During Indictable Offence [CC 85(1)(A)]; and
- Possess Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
The youth is also charged with Fail to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137].
The three adult accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, July 18, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. The youth made her first appearance on her charges in Provincial Youth Court at that time as well.
