Continued investigation into a business robbery in February has resulted in charges against a 26 year-old Ituna male.
On February 25, 2022, police were notified of an attempted robbery at a business in the 4100 block of Rochdale Boulevard. A male suspect entered the store and passed a note to the clerk indicating he had a gun and wanted cash. The suspect left on foot before obtaining anything in the robbery attempt. Police were given a description of the suspect.
At about the same time/date, police were advised about a stolen vehicle in a parking lot, not far from where the robbery attempt occurred. That stolen vehicle was later located in Lumsden by RCMP, who arrested the male driver. At that time, there wasn’t evidence to link the two events, but RPS continued to investigate, eventually gathering the evidence needed to identify the robbery suspect, who is alleged to be the same person as the suspect in the stolen car. On March 31, 2022, a 26 year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the February 25th robbery.
Twenty-six year-old Timothy Nelson Gordon JONES, of Ituna, is charged with:
- Robbery, section 344(1)(b) CC;
- Wearing a Disguise with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, section 351(2);
- Fail to Comply with Conditions, section 145(5)(a) CC.
JONES made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
