Members of the RPS Stolen Auto Unit were busy yesterday (Thursday, February 24. 2022) with the arrests of three people in two separate incidents involving stolen vehicles.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. police were in the area of 7th Avenue and Cameron Street where they observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen just minutes earlier. Officers were able to arrest both suspects, the driver and the passenger, when they exited the vehicle a short distance away. As a result, two adult males are facing charges.
Not even one hour later a second stolen vehicle was spotted in driving in the area of 3rd Avenue and Robinson Street. Officers were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device (commonly known as a spike belt) and the lone occupant, an adult male, was taken into custody after a lengthy foot chase.
As a result of both incidents three adult males are facing charges.
In relation to the first incident in the area of 7th Avenue and Cameron Street, 41 year-old Richard Frederick DESNOMIE and 47 year-old Shawn Robert BALCH both of Regina are each charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(A) CC].
Both DESNOMIE AND BALCH made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Friday, February 25, 2022.
Charged in the second incident is 26 year-old Montel Jordan MAU of Regina. MAU is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(A) CC]; and
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited [355(A) CC]
MAU made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Friday, February 25, 2022.
