Three male youths are facing charges after an incident in the 2100 Block of 11th Avenue on Saturday, February 5, 2022.
Police were dispatched at approximately 3:00 p.m., to the front of a business for a report of an altercation involving a bladed weapon. Initial information given to police indicated that there was a male chasing another male into a business with a knife. When police arrived, one male was in the custody of security officers and appeared to suffering from a knife wound. Police searched the area and located two other male youths that matched the descriptions provided. Both male youths had injuries consistent with an assault – one appeared to be suffering from a significant stab wound. Officers took all three males into custody, two were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. The third did not require medical treatment.
As a result, three male youths are now facing the following charges. None of them can be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- A 13 year-old male is charged with: Assault with a Weapon [267(A) CC]; and Fail to Comply [137 YCJA];
- A 14 year-old male is charged with: Aggravated Assault [268(1) CC]; and
- A 14 year-old male is charged with: Assault with a Weapon [267(A) CC].
All three accused persons made their first court appearances on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. this morning, Monday, February 7, 2022.
