The Regina Police Service has laid charges in connection with a recent business Break and Enter and recovered about 12-thousand dollars’ worth of stolen property.
This investigation began on Monday, November 22, 2021, at about 7:45 a.m. when police were dispatched for a report of a break and enter to a compound belonging to a business in the 2800 block of Dewdney Avenue. The complainant showed police where a suspect or suspects had cut holes in the fence of the compound. Several items, including snow-clearing equipment, were removed in the break, enter and theft. Continued investigation into this incident led to recovery of one snowblower and identification of a potential suspect. This led to police obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and outbuildings, where police recovered more of the stolen property. The 25 year-old suspect was charged.
Twenty-five year-old Dakota Joseph William LAFERTE, of Regina, is charged with:
– Break and Enter, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
– Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime, s. 355.2 CC;
– Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, s. 355(a) CC; and
– Fraud Under $5000, s. 380(1)(b) CC.
LAFERTE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today: Thursday, December 2, 2021.
