A 31 year-old female has been charged with an alleged assault in connection with an incident on
Sunday night at a Regina restaurant.
Police were dispatched at 10:36 p.m., on Sunday, November 28, 2021, to a restaurant in the 2600 block of 28th Avenue, for a report of an assault in progress. Information received in the call indicated a male and female were involved in a disturbance inside the restaurant and had just left the premises. When police arrived, there were several people standing outside; officers were directed toward two specific individuals who were taken into custody without incident. Police were able to gather further information, including a statement from a 22 year-old female employee who alleged she’d been struck in the face by the female police had just taken into custody. The victim did not require medical assistance. The suspect female was charged with Level 1, or common assault. The male who had been taken into custody was released once he was calm and sober; he was not charged. (This is a typical disposition to prevent a person who is intoxicated from breaching the peace.)
Thirty-one year-old Mariesa Natalia GIOVANNETTI, of Regina, is charged with Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code. GIOVANNETTI was released on an undertaking to appear in Provincial Court on January 17, 2022.
