The Regina Police Service has charged a male in relation to yesterday’s event that resulted in a CEW deployment by police, which was the subject of an earlier news release.
Police were called to investigate a weapons offence where a male was observed with a knife. Police arrived and located the fifty-four year-old male, who was arrested for weapons possession. The male resisted, and after multiple deployments of a CEW by police, was taken into custody. The male provided a false identify to police, and after confirming the male’s identity, it was learned he was in breach of conditions of release order.
Fifty-four year-old Douglas Andrew RUSSELL, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Identity Fraud with Intent to Avoid Arrest [CC 403(1)(D)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
RUSSELL makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Monday, November 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.
