On November 24, 2021 officials from a local elementary school alerted their School Resource Officer of a suspicious occurrence that had taken place the day prior. School administration told officers that on November 23, 2021 they received a phone call requesting a student be dismissed for an appointment and that the caller was outside to pick them up. The parent of this student was at the school when the child was released. However, the parent told school officials they did not make the initial call to the school.
The origin of the call is unclear but initial investigation did not turn up any evidence of ill intent.
The Regina Police Service has not received any other reports of similar occurrences at other schools in the city.
RPS School Resource Officers work with all schools in our city on a daily basis to ensure student safety. Processes and procedures are constantly reviewed to ensure they are meeting the needs of the school community.
