Two adult males and two male youths – all of Regina – are facing a total of twenty-two charges in connection with an investigation involving a stolen auto, drugs and weapons.
On November 24, 2021, at approximately 2:27 a.m., police spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a reported stolen auto. Officers were able to successfully deploy a spike belt on the stolen auto: a Lincoln MKC. The vehicle came to a stop on Horace Street, just south of Dewdney Avenue and the four occupants of the car fled on foot. With the help of a Canine team, four suspects were arrested and searched. A bag containing numerous smaller bags was seized; the bags contained a substance believed to be methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle found a sawed –off shotgun. One of the suspects was in possession of a canister of bear spray. All four now face charges.
Twenty year-old JustIn FAIRBAIRN, OF Regina is charged with:
– 4 X Breach of firearms prohibition, s. 117.01(1) CC;
– Dangerous driving, s. 320.13(1) CC;
– Evade Police, s. 320.17 CC;
– Possession for the purpose of trafficking (meth), s. 5(2) CDSA;
– Careless transport of firearm, s. 86(2);
– Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, s. 88 CC;
– Carry concealed weapon, s. 90 CC;
– Possession of a firearm without a license, s. 92(1) CC;
– Possession of a prohibited firearm, s. 95 CC;
– 2 X Breach of probation, 733.1 CC;
– Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (vehicle), s. 355 (a) CC; and
– Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (licence plate), s. 355 (b) CC.
Twenty-four year-old Wesson CAPPO, of Regina, is charged with:
– Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (vehicle), s. 355 (a) CC; and
– Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (licence plate), s. 355 (b) CC.
Both FAIRBAIRN and CAPPO made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.
Two youths, ages 17 and 16, are also charged. They cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both are charged with:
– Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (vehicle), s. 355 (a) CC; and
– Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (licence plate), s. 355 (b) CC.
In addition, the 17 year-old is charged with:
– Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (bear spray), s. 88 CC; and
– Possession of a prohibited weapon, s. 91(2) CC.
The two youth made their first court appearances on these charges in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.
