An adult male and an adult female are facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property after an investigation and traffic stop.
These arrests came out of ongoing investigation into theft and shoplifting. On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, police were contacted regarding two suspicious individuals inside an east Regina business. Staff at the business reported that a male and female were placing items from the store inside their jackets. Police were able to gather descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle they were operating. Patrol members then initiated a traffic stop in the area of Dewdney Avenue East and Rothwell Street. Officers observed brand new merchandise inside the car which neither the male driver nor female passenger could account for with purchase receipts. The male had a warrant of arrest for theft from a previous unrelated event. Both suspects were arrested for theft and possession of stolen property. The vehicle was searched and police recovered over $5,000 worth of merchandise from other, various retailers throughout the city. Businesses will be contacted to arrange return of their merchandise.
