On October 30, 2021, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the east alley of the 1200 block of Retallack Street for the report of a firearms offence. A male was reported to be in the alley, armed with a firearm, shouting threats.
Police arrived and located the male, and challenged him to drop the firearm. The male entered a residence. Police surrounded the residence and commanded the male to exit, but the male did not comply. After numerous attempts, Crisis Negotiators Team (CNT) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) were deployed to assist.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. the 33 year-old Regina male was apprehended by police and taken into custody. A search warrant was executed on the residence and police located the firearm with ammunition. The male was found to be in breach of a firearms prohibition order and in breach of probation order.
Thirty-three year-old Prince Derek SHEPHERD, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- 3 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Breach of Probation [CC 733.1(1)].
SHEPHERD made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Monday, November 1, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
