A 20 year-old male faces charges, including three charges of Attempt Murder, after investigation into the Wednesday traffic incident where three people were injured.
On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Victoria and Arcola Avenue for the report of an injured male who was struck by a stolen vehicle.
Early information indicates that a driver stopped at the intersection, and was struck by another driver from behind. The driver in the front vehicle then exited his vehicle and as he approached the rear of his vehicle, he was struck by the stolen vehicle.
Other vehicles, with occupants who witnessed the male in distress, stopped and exited their vehicles to assist the victim. The suspect then struck the original victim and two witnesses who were assisting the injured male. The vehicle then fled the scene.
The driver, a 20 year-old male was located shortly after and was arrested and subsequently charged.
The initial victim of the incident remains in critical condition. The injuries sustained by the remaining two victims are described as non-life threatening.
Twenty year-old Larz Anthony OKEEWEEHOW, of Regina, is charged with:
- 3 X Attempt Murder [CC 239];
- Dangerous Drive [CC 320.13(1)];
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355(A)];
- Theft of Motor Vehicle [CC 333.1(1)];
- Fail to Comply with Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order [CC 733.1((1)].
OKEEWEEHOW made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court yesterday, September 30, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.
