A 21 year-old male has been charged in connection with a vehicle/pedestrian fatal collision that occurred on Friday, September 17, 2021, at about 11:00 p.m, in the area of 6th Avenue and Hamilton Street. The victim, a 67 year-old Regina woman, was reportedly crossing from the south side of 6th Avenue to the north side of 6th Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle, which was north-bound on Broad Street, and then turned west on 6th Avenue. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS, but succumbed to her injuries. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
Although there are still many investigative tasks to carry out, the Regina Police Service located the vehicle and arrested a 21 year-old male, alleged to be the driver, on Monday, September 20, 2021. This investigation is ongoing. The family of the deceased woman was offered the resources of Victim Services and has now been advised of this development in the case. The name of the victim will not be released by police at this time.
Twenty-one year-old Tyrell James HUME, of Regina, is charged with Failure to stop after collision resulting in death, [320.16(3) CC]. HUME will appear before a Justice the evening of Monday September 20, 2021.
