An adult male is facing charges in connection with an ongoing investigation that began yesterday (Thursday) in the area of the 800 block of Garnet Street and the 800 block of Robinson Street. Drugs and weapons were seized as a result of this investigation.
Police were called to the 800 block of Garnet Street at about 7:44 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021. The initial complaint reported a male in a neighbour’s backyard yelling and creating a disturbance. Another call came in within minutes; a female approached a construction worker near Garnet Street and 3rd Avenue reporting an assault by a male on another female. Minutes later a third call came in, alleging a female had been beaten and shot at, indicating a residence on the 800 block of Robinson Street. Initial investigation, and comparison of similar information in the calls, led to containment of the Robinson Street location and a request for necessary additional resources. Numerous attempts to make contact with anyone inside were unsuccessful. Police and Canine entered the residence and found it unoccupied; a search warrant was obtained. Several weapons, including firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia, ammunition and body armour were seized in the search. Further investigation led to charges against an adult male. A female believed to be the victim was found unhurt, but did not provide a statement. She was offered resources and contact information, should she require them. Investigation is ongoing.
