A 41 year-old male is facing charges in connection with two incidents: a weapons offence and an assault, in Regina yesterday (August 23rd).
On Monday, August 23, 2021, at approximately 3:11 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Osler Street for a report of a weapons offence, involving a male with a knife. Officers learned that, about ten minutes earlier, an adult male approached a 63 year-old male and then suddenly lunged toward him with a knife. The victim was able to step aside in time to avoid being hurt. As he entered a nearby building to call police, the victim saw the suspect male walking south on Osler Street towards Victoria Avenue. As officers obtained a description of the suspect male, an unrelated call for service was broadcast, describing a confrontation at City Hall. In that incident, at 3:16 p.m., an adult male entered City Hall in Regina. According to staff, the male seemed agitated. He was asked to leave, but he refused to do so. It’s alleged he assaulted an employee before fleeing. The suspect described in both these incidents was the same. Police began an extensive search of the area. The suspect male was located in the 1800 block of Halifax Street and arrested without incident. Neither of the victims in these incidents required medical attention.
Forty-one year-old Mark BLANCO, of Regina, is charged with:
- Assault, s. 266 CC;
- Assault with a weapon (knife), s. 267(a) CC;
