The Regina Police Service is assisting the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and C-P Rail, in a death investigation after an incident on the C-P Rail line, resulting in the death of a 56 year-old Regina male.
On Sunday, August 1, 2021, at approximately 3:08 a.m., the Regina Police Service received a report from C-P Rail stating that one of their trains, heading eastbound, had just struck a pedestrian. Police went to where the train was stopped, just east of the Albert Street overpass. They located an adult male, who was pronounced deceased by EMS. Police requested a Coroner to the scene, and gathered statements from the personnel on the train, as part of the investigation. Police also requested Forensic Identification members to assist in identifying the deceased person and gathering evidence. The male has been identified; however his name will not be released by the Regina Police Service. His next-of-kin have been notified of his death.
The Regina Police Service will continue to assist the Coroners Service and C-P Rail in this investigation, as requested.
