The Regina Police Service is asking for information from anyone who may have information about an assault with a weapon (bear spray) that happened yesterday (Monday) afternoon.
Police were dispatched at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, to a retail store in the 900 block of Albert Street for a report of an assault. The suspect had left the premises before police arrived, but staff members indicated a male entered the store a short time earlier and gathered up a large armful of clothing. When a staff member approached to ask if the male wanted to have the items carried to the cash register, the suspect pulled out a canister of what was believed to be bear spray, and sprayed the employee in the face. As he did so, the male dropped the items he was carrying and then fled. The employee experienced a burning sensation in her eyes and on her skin where the substance made contact, but she declined EMS treatment. The male suspect is described as being about 5’ 7” tall, thin, wearing dark shorts, a sleeveless black shirt, a ball cap and glasses. The suspect also had headphones and was carrying a backpack.
If anyone has information that could assist police in this investigation, they are asked to call the Regina Police Service directly at 306-777-6364, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The Regina Police Service thanks the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.
