The Regina Police Service is requesting that motorists and the public stay clear of an area in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. Police members are on the scene for a report of a suspicious object/package.
At approx. 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021, police received a report of a suspicious object directly behind a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. There are no injuries associated to this event. Police attended and after assessment requested the attendance of the RPS Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) to safely remove the item and determine, if possible, how it came to be at that location.
Police have evacuated people from the businesses in the immediate area and the Communications Centre has contacted residents in the area to ask them to remain indoors until this situation is resolved. Police are diverting vehicle and pedestrian traffic away from the area at the following points:
Wallace Street & 12th Avenue, and Wallace Street & Victoria Avenue as well as the alley. At the moment, traffic flow west on Victoria Avenue is normal.
