On April 24, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Regina Police Service, Property Crimes Unit, along with the assistance of patrol, conducted an investigation regarding a firearm related offence. The investigation lead to an address in the 1200 block of Cameron Street, where three male suspects were taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the residence produced a firearm along with ammunition. The investigation resulted in one of the three suspects being released from custody. The remaining two suspects were charged with the following:
Twenty four year old, Gerald Edward KEENATCH, of Regina, is charged with:
- C. 92(1) – Possession of a firearm knowing he is not the holder of a license to possess it
- C. 117.01(1) – Possession of a firearm while prohibited
- C. 117.01(1) – Possession of ammunition while prohibited
- C. 92(2) – Possession of a prohibited device (over capacity magazine)
- C. 86(2) – Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to regulations
Twenty two year old, Francis John DESJARLAIS, of Regina, is charged with the following:
- C. 91(1) – Possession of a firearm not being the holder of a license
- C. 91(2) – Possession of a prohibited device (over capacity magazine)
- C. 86(2) – Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to regulations
Both KEENATCH and DESJARLAIS are scheduled for Provincial Court on Monday April 26th, at 9:30 a.m.
