The Regina Police Service has issued another Summary Offence Ticket Information (SOTI), or ticket under the Saskatchewan Public Health Act for a breach of the province’s Public Health Orders.
On February 11, 2021, just after midnight, police attended to a domestic conflict call-for-service. Officers were advised that one of the individuals involved in a loud argument was confirmed COVID-19-positive and should be self-isolating. Police attended, wearing personal protective equipment, and were able to escort a 47 year-old male to his residence, in the 1200 block of McTavish Street, so that he could self-isolate. The male was extremely agitated and appeared to be intoxicated so the officers did not serve a ticket to him at that time. On February 18, 2021, officers went back to the male’s residence and advised him that he was being issued a ticket for failing to isolate when confirmed positive for COVID-19 by the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The fine is $2800.
This is the 25th ticket issued by the Regina Police Service for COVID-19-related breaches, since the start of the pandemic in March, 2020. Eight tickets were issued in 2020; the remaining 17 have been issued since January 1, 2021.
