On Wednesday, February 10, 2021 members of the Stolen Auto Unit observed a vehicle, reported as stolen, driving in the area of Park Street and Victoria Avenue.
Police approached the vehicle shortly after the driver parked in the 2400 block of Lacon Street. The male driver exited the vehicle and walked away. When police commanded the suspect to stop he fled on foot.
Officers caught up with the male suspect after a brief foot chase and took him into custody. The vehicle was recovered and it was determined the vehicle had been stolen two days earlier. At that time, the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside.
As a result, 30 year-old Dustin Martin MORIN is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 [CC 355(A)].
- Fail to comply with condition of undertaking [CC 145(4)(A)]; and
- Fail to comply with condition of a release order [CC 145(5)(A)].
MORIN made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
