On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at approximately 12:25 p.m., police responded to a robbery in the area of 3rd Avenue and Angus Street. A female fare had robbed a taxicab driver of his vehicle, driving away southbound on Rae Street. Further police investigation determined that the female attempted to sell stolen property while in the vehicle.
Shortly after, a tire deflation device was successfully deployed on the vehicle, which continued to drive until finally parking on the 2400 block of Victoria Avenue, where the driver exited and walked towards the court house. A Regina Police Service Canine Unit member gave demands to the female but she did not comply and ran into the court house, where members apprehended her without incident. The vehicle was seized, as was the property inside the vehicle confirmed to be stolen in an unrelated incident.
As a result, thirty year-old Tayna Dawn HORSEFALL, of Regina, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)];
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 [CC 355(A)];
- Operation of a conveyance while prohibited [CC 320.18(1)(A)];
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 [CC 355(B)]; and
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5000 [CC 355.2].
HORSEFALL made her first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
