A seventeen year-old female is facing charges in connection with an incident overnight in which a fleeing vehicle struck a parked car. There were no injuries in this incident.
Tis investigation began at about 4:08 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, when police observed a suspicious vehicle believed to have been involved in earlier evade police events. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle in the area of 14th Avenue and Reynolds Street. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and accelerated away from police, turning northbound on Lindsay Street. The suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle and the suspect driver was arrested without further incident. Through investigation police learned that the driver knew the owner of the vehicle, but confirmed with the owner that the suspect had taken the vehicle without his consent. The suspect was subsequently charged.
A seventeen year-old female, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Flight From Peace Officer [320.17 CC]; and
- Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent .
The female youth was released on an Undertaking and is due to be in Youth Court, on this charge, on June 24, 2021.
