A 33 year-old male has been charged with evading police and breaching court-ordered conditions after incidents on December 29th and 30th.
On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a male recognized as being wanted on an outstanding warrant. The vehicle accelerated away from police at a high speed and police were not able to locate it again that night. On Wednesday, December 30th, the same vehicle and driver were seen again. This time, the driver was arrested after abandoning the vehicle in a snow bank and running away. The vehicle was impounded and the male was charged.
Thirty-three year-old Dexter Leigh Blaine TRAFIAK, of Regina, is charged with:
- Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited [320.18(1)(a) CC];
- Flight from a Peace Officer [320.17 CC];
- Fail to comply with conditions of Release Order [145(5)(a) CC]; and
- Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
TRAFIAK made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
