A 25 year-old Regina male is charged in connection with a stolen auto and evading police in an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of December 1st (today).
At approximately 2:37 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, police were dispatched to the area of 25th Avenue and Pasqua Street for a report vehicle stolen from Bentley Drive. The owner alerted police to the vehicle’s Onstar system, which allowed officers to track and observe the vehicle, eventually directing Onstar to disable the vehicle. However, as an officer engaged emergency equipment and approached the stolen vehicle, it sped away. A canine officer continued to follow the stolen vehicle, which was abandoned after hitting a fence in the 2600 block of Wascana Street. A perimeter was set up and the suspect driver was found in a trailer at the rear of a property in the 2600 block of Edward Street. In spite of several warnings, the suspect would not comply with police demands to come out of the trailer. The suspect was bitten by a police dog during his arrest; he was treated in hospital and then brought to police detention. Further investigation led to charges against the 25 year-old male.
