The Regina Police Service is asking for information from the public that could assist in an investigation into a robbery that occurred yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at about 4:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 3800 block of Albert Street for a weapons offence. Staff at that location reported a male inside who was carrying a large knife and threatening customers and staff. The male suspect was described as wearing a black shirt, a black baseball hat and carrying a black backpack. As police arrived, they were advised that the suspect had left the business and had been seen on a bicycle heading northbound. Patrol members went to the immediate area but did not find the suspect. Upon conducting further investigation, officers learned that the suspect had gotten into an argument with a staff member and, after taking a knife that was part of the store merchandise, allegedly stole other items before trying to open the cash registers. Investigators are in the process of obtaining any store video to help identify the suspect. There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.
Anyone who has information about this crime, or noted the suspect leaving the scene, is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The Regina Police Service thanks the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.
