The Regina Police Service is asking for information from the public as police investigate a firearms offence on the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue on Monday, August 3, 2020. This incident resulted in the hospitalization of a 24 year-old male.
On Monday, August 3, 2020, police were dispatched at 9:48 a.m. to the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue for a report of a weapons offence involving a firearm. Upon arrival, police found a 24 year-old male, the victim of an apparent shooting. The male was transported to hospital by EMS as police continued their investigation. The ongoing investigation led police to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street where several items were seized including firearms and ammunition. Numerous individuals have been charged in this incident, including the victim of the apparent shooting who has also been charged with weapon possession and related offences.
Police continue to investigate the nature of this dispute. The following people have been charged:
- Thirty-three year-old Ryan Leslie CREELEY, of Regina, has been charged with Attempted Murder [239 CC]. CREELEY appeared in Provincial Court on August 4, 2020.
- Twenty year-old Matthew LERAT-POLSON, of Regina, has been charged with Attempted Murder [239 CC] and Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]. POLSON also appeared in Provincial Court on August 4, 2020.
- Eighteen year-old Lakota Lewis ANDERSON, of Regina, has been charged with Possession of a Weapon [88 CC]; Carry Concealed Weapon [90 CC]; and Possession of a Scheduled Substance [4(1) CDSA]. ANDERSON will make his court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on September 15, 2020.
- Twenty-four year-old Kashtin Reuben Gabriel THORNE, of Regina, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon [276(a) CC]; Possession of a Weapon [88 CC]; Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]; and Breach of an Undertaking [145(4)(a) CC]. THORNE will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on August 7, 2020.
The Regina Police Service is asking members of the public to make contact if they have information that could assist in this investigation. This incident occurred in a residential neighbourhood at mid-morning and the potential for harm to innocent bystanders is of great concern to police.
