The Cybercrime Support Unit is responsible for cybercrime investigations with the focus to support investigations within other areas of the Regina Police Service.
The primary function of the Cybercrime Support Unit is to identify, collect and preserve online evidence via advanced open source investigations. Members are well-versed in mining information from social media, mainstream websites and other online avenues. Investigators in the unit also provide support in investigations where a computer system is used as a tool to commit a criminal offence (i.e. Identity fraud, selling stolen property, threatening, etc.) and investigate complaints where a computer system is the target of a criminal offence, such as ransomware attacks and malware intrusions.
