At approximately 4:20 p.m. on April 16, 2026, police responded to a report of a weapons offence in the 3000 block of Arens Road. The caller told police they had just witnessed someone point a firearm at a person in a parked vehicle.
When police arrived on scene moments later, the driver and vehicle were no longer there. Due to safety concerns related to the firearm, members of the RPS Tactical Support Team were called to the scene to assist. Investigation determined the suspect was in a residence nearby. He was located and taken into custody without further incident. A BB gun was located inside the residence and seized.
As a result of this investigation, a 15 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 266];
- Use of an Imitation of a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence [CC 82(2)]; and
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88].
The youth made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Youth Court today, April 17, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.
