Regina’s 16th Chief of Police Announced
The Board of Police Commissioners is pleased to announce Lorilee Davies as the new permanent Chief of Police for the Regina Police Service.
Davies comes with nearly 30 years experience with the service. She was the first woman in the role of Deputy Chief and is now the first female Chief of Police for the Regina Police Service. She is also the first female Chief of Police in the province’s history.
Throughout her career, Chief Davies has worked in both uniform and investigative plainclothes divisions. Davies has provided leadership in community-based and human-resource sections of the Service and has been a member of both the Public Safety and Crisis Negotiation Teams. Her diverse assignments have spanned from managing large-scale protests and labour disputes to providing oversight as a Critical Incident Commander on Emergency Services calls.
“This promotion is well deserved. Lorilee Davies is not only a strong local leader, but someone who knows the Regina Police Service inside and out,” says Mayor Chad Bachynski. “Her deep understanding of our city and the needs of our community will serve Regina well as she takes on the role of Chief of Police. I am confident her leadership will strengthen the trust between our police force and the people of Regina.”
Davies believes that immersing herself in the community is an integral part of working in law enforcement and actively works with community leaders to make Regina a safer place for everyone. She developed the RPS Truth and Reconciliation Strategy and Committee for the Police Service. She also spent many years with the Regina Police Association, the labour organization which represents over 600 sworn and civilian RPS members. Chief Davies believes this experience has given her a fulsome perspective on matters facing those who work for the Regina Police Service.
“I am honoured to serve as your Chief of Police,” says Lorilee Davies. “This Service has been my home for nearly three decades, and I am proud to continue working alongside such a dedicated group of police officers and civilian professionals. It has been, and will continue to be, my mission to foster relationships both within the service and with the community as a whole. Working together, we can ensure Regina remains a safe and welcoming city for all.”
Davies is proud to be a part of the Regina Police Service where she continues to be a thoughtful and innovative leader.
Chief Davies has been serving in the Acting role since April 2025. Her promotion is effective November 25, 2025. A formal swearing-in ceremony will take place early in the new year.
