On Saturday, June 14, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Kramer Boulevard for the report of a motor vehicle accident involving injuries. Initial information indicated that an altercation had occurred between multiple individuals. During the incident, a vehicle drove into the group, striking two victims before crashing into a tree. The driver then fled the scene.
Police and EMS arrived on scene and tended to the victims. One victim was transported to hospital by EMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim was assessed at the scene and determined to have sustained minor injuries.
While officers were investigating, a male suspect returned to the scene and identified himself to police. He was arrested without incident.
As a result, 18 year-old Kartik DESWAL is charged with:
- Attempted Murder [CC 239]; and
- 2 X Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm [CT 320.13(2)];
- Failure to Stop after Accident that Results in Bodily Harm [CT 320.16(2)];
- Operate Conveyance Dangerous to Public [CT 320.13(1)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court yesterday morning, June 16, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
