The Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit, in conjunction with the Special Weapons and Tactics Team and Patrol, completed enforcement action on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in relation to drug trafficking and firearms within the City of Regina.
Investigation indicated a 25 year-old male was trafficking in illegal substances. A search warrant was executed at 9:40 p.m. on a residence on the 1100 block of Empress Street. A search yielded methamphetamine, Canadian currency, a rifle, firearm parts and a replica firearm.
Twenty-five year-old Mackenzie James DESNOMIE, and 19 year-old Neveah Jewel Evainl WASACASE-EWENIN, of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- Careless Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)].
DESNOMIE is also charged with:
- 2 x Possession of Firearm / Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Possession of Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine) [CC 117.01(1);
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)];
- Breach of Conditional Sentence Order [CC 742.6(1)].
DESNOMIE and WASACASE-EWENIN are scheduled to make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning at 9:30 a.m.
