On Thursday, March 28, there will be an active threat lockdown drill at the RCMP Academy in Regina between 1:30 and 2:20 PM. Anyone in the area can expect to hear gunshots being fired during that time. There is no reason for residents or passersby to be alarmed. Residents in the immediate vicinity of the drill site have been notified.
The lockdown drill will involve members of the RPS, EMS and Fire & Protective Services as well as RCMP staff and cadets. The RCMP, RPS, EMS and Fire & Protective Services actively work together to be prepared for all critical incidents. This lockdown drill is like fire drills held at the RCMP Academy on a regular basis.
The RCMP is committed to planning for possible active threat situations and regularly schedules lockdown and fire drills throughout the year.
Anyone with questions or concerns was asked to call the Regina Police Service administration line at 306-777-6500.
