On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 1100 block of McTavish Street for the report of a firearm offence. Information provided was that a firearm was heard shot.
Police arrived and the residence was in darkness and no one was present. Police located a male walking in a nearby alley, and detained him to investigate the firearms offence. The male was identified and found to be the subject of warrants which include firearm-related offences. The male was arrested and a search revealed a firearm and ammunition, finding him in breach of court-ordered conditions.
People were unable to confirm a firearm was discharged, nor was anyone found to be injured.
Thirty-six year-old Martin Raymond OOCHOO, of Regina, is charged with:
- Careless Use of a Firearm [CC 86(1)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
OOCHOO made his first appearance on these charges today, Monday, March 11, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
