The Regina Police Service is advising the public of training scheduled to take place at the former (now vacant) St. Pius school in the 3300 block of Garnet Street on Wednesday, September 20.
The training will involve members of the RPS Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The training will begin at 8:00 a.m. and is expected to last through the day until 4 p.m.
Area residents can expect to see SWAT team members, EDU members and associated tactical vehicles in the area. Due to the nature of the training, loud bangs may be heard throughout the day. The public is not involved in the training, nor will the public be at risk from the training. Officers will knock on the doors of individual residents who are in the immediate vicinity of the training to notify them of the activities.
Regina Police Service Emergency Teams participate in regular training in order to safely and effectively respond to a variety of emergencies using the best and most current methods.
We thank the public for your cooperation and attention to this information.
