On Tuesday, July 5, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., police observed a suspicious person going through parked vehicles on the 2700 block of Retallack Street in Regina. Police approached and the person fled.
The Regina Police Service Canine Unit deployed a Police Service Dog to track the suspect from his last known location. The dog tracked to the location of an abandoned bag, and tracked further to the location of the suspect hiding in bushes, and bit him. The male was identified and arrested for stolen property. EMS arrived and attended to the male’s bite injury.
Twenty-eight year-old Mathew David LEPINSKI, of Regina, is charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000 [CC 334(B)]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 [CC 355(B)].
LEPINSKI was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
