On Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at around 7:40 p.m., police were dispatched for a report of a robbery in progress at 11th Avenue and Halifax Street. Early information provided to police stated that a driver was approached by a suspect male who tried to enter the driver’s vehicle. The suspect revealed a knife, got into the vehicle, and drove away. The victim was not physically injured.
Through investigation, police located the stolen vehicle in the 1900 block of Halifax Street. When officers approached the vehicle, they located a male in the driver’s seat. The male appeared to be asleep at the wheel and was unresponsive to police requests to exit the vehicle; the vehicle was running and still in drive. Officers were able to wake the male and he was taken into police custody without incident. In a search of the vehicle following the arrest, police located a bladed weapon.
As a result, 26 year-old James KORMISH, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)]; and
- Impaired Operation of a Conveyance By Alcohol Or Drug [CC 320.14].
KORMISH will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this afternoon (Thursday, May 4, 2023) at 2:00 p.m.
