An 18 year-old male is facing a charge of Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, after police investigation into a suspicious vehicle overnight.
At approximately 12:41 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, police on patrol noted a grey Chevrolet Cruze in the area of 10th Avenue and Elphinstone. The vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed, which attracted the officers’ attention. They attempted to follow the vehicle but it sped away in spite of poor road conditions. A Canine team officer spotted the Cruze stopped on Regina Avenue, near Albert Street. Two occupants ran from the vehicle, so the Canine officer used his Police Service dog to track the driver. An 18 year-old male was arrested by patrol officers a short time later and charged with possession of the stolen car. The Police Service dog did not make contact with the suspect.
