The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, has confirmed the identity of a male who was found deceased in the water at Wascana Lake on October 20th. Police have also determined the investigation is not a criminal case.
On Thursday, October 20, 2022 at approximately 3:20 p.m., police were dispatched to Wascana Lake for the discovery of a deceased person in the water near Willow Island. Regina Fire and Protective Services assisted in recovering the individual. Police and the Coroner attended to the scene, and at that time, the identity of the deceased was unknown to authorities.
Members of the Regina Police Service have since identified the deceased. The male was a Regina resident and his next of kin have been notified. Through investigation, police have also determined that the death was not criminal. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the male’s death will continue; that investigation will be led by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and assisted by police.
