On Monday, October 3, 2022, at approximately 5:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a restaurant on the 400 block of Albert Street N for the report of an assault. A female, with a small child, had entered the business and was then dragged away physically by a male.
Police arrived and investigation led to a nearby apartment. As police entered, the female opened the door and requested help. The female had sustained injuries consistent with assault. The young child was also present but did not appear to have sustained physical injury. The male was arrested and charged with assault.
It was learned that the male had previous conditions of a release order to have no contact with the female; he was charged with breach of these conditions. It was learned that the male had threatened further harm to the female if she called out to police; the male was also charged with forcible confinement.
As this is an incident of domestic conflict, the Regina Police Service will not be releasing the name of the male charged as to protect the identity of the victim. As a result: a 23 year-old Regina male is charged with:
- Aggravated Assault [CC 268(1)];
- Forcible Confinement [CC 279(2)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order [CC 145(5)].
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this afternoon, Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
