The Regina Police Service will be hosting a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) blitz over the next two days in the Regina area.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022 and Thursday, September 22, 2022, police from around Saskatchewan will be working alongside partner agencies to identify traffic violations and take enforcement action. This two-day initiative will take place at various locations in and around Regina. Enforcement will focus on traffic offences like distracted driving, seatbelt use, impaired drivers, unlicensed drivers and commercial vehicle standards.
This week’s enforcement project falls during National Rail Safety Week (September 19-25) so police will also ensure that rail safety is a top priority and will educate drivers and pedestrians about railway crossing etiquette and safety.
STEP is a multi-agency task force dedicated to improving traffic safety across Saskatchewan. Members include municipal police agencies, the RCMP, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS), Saskatchewan Highway Patrol (SHP), Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) Police and representatives from SGI and the Ministries of Justice and Finance.
