A third adult male has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred almost exactly a year ago, in Regina, in July of 2021. Two other males have already been charged in connection with this case; both were arrested last August. The victim of homicide was 33 year-old Jason Lee BIRD, of Regina.
This death investigation began on Thursday, July 15, 2021, just after 5:00 a.m., when members of the Regina Police Service were dispatched to the 800 block of Princess Street. An injured, adult male, later identified as Jason BIRD, was found at that location. Patrol officers provided first aid to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Continued investigation into this case led to the arrest of 32 year-old Mursal Abukar HAGI, of Edmonton, Alberta. HAGI was arrested on July 13, 2022, in the Regina district. HAGI is charged with First-Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. HAGI made his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (today), July 14, 2022.
