Three adults and one youth are facing numerous charges after investigation into a Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery. The individuals charged are also facing various other charges, with one facing several weapons charges.
This investigation began on Monday, June 6, 2022, when police were dispatched at approximately 3:36 p.m. to a residence in the 800 block of Elphinstone Street. The information in the call indicated a possible assault in progress, but there was also shouting about possible firearms. Police units arrived and intercepted two females who were leaving the premises. At the same time, officers at the back of the residence took two males into custody without incident. It’s alleged one of the males was in possession of an expandable baton, an imitation firearm, and an improvised (home-made) firearm. Further investigation led to evidence of a Break and Enter as well as recovery of identity documents, and other property believed to have been stolen. All four persons in custody were charged.
A seventeen year-old male, who cannot identified in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
– Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
– 2 X Carrying Concealed Prohibited Weapon, s. 90 CC;
– Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, s. 95(1)(a) CC;
– Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace, s. 88 CC; and
– 2 X Possession or Prohibited Device or Ammunition, s. 88 CC.
Twenty-two year-old Courtney POORMAN, of the Regina District, is charged with:
– Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
– 5 X Possession of an Identity Document (five victims), s. 56.1(1) CC;
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, s. 355(b) CC.
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (fentanyl), s. 4(1) CDSA.
Twenty-six year-old Megan Blaze POORMAN, of Regina, is charged with:
– Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
– Obstruct Peace Officer (by giving a false name), s. 129(a) CC;
– Possession of a Weapon (bear spray) for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace, s. 88 CC;
– Carrying Concealed Weapon, s. 90 CC; and
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, s. 355(b) CC.
Twenty-two year-old Keegan James GOODPIPE, of Regina, is charged with:
– Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
– Obstruct Peace Officer (by giving a false name), s. 129(a) CC; and
– Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order, s. 145(5)(a) CC.
All of the accused persons appeared in Provincial Court on these charges at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (today), June 7, 2022.
